Conceptual book design is an inspiring design project that trains designers to transform their creative thinking into book form.
Course outcomes include "Unveiling Their World," which compiles a series of miracles of blindness, from "the blind child who played the piano with four hands" to "Helen Keller who dedicated her life to the cause of the blind." The central main section is formed by stacking paper from top to bottom, creating a "bamboo shoot" shape (circular reading), conveying the resilience and continuous growth of blind children.
"Rashomon" uses wood and silk thread as raw materials, corresponding to the evil and fear in human nature. "School Violence Calendar" reconstructs the book form, incorporating three-dimensional composition and mixed media to create a calendar documenting a student's experience of school violence and the healing process.
"Disorder" explores and imitates the feeling of "refreshing" on social media through cutouts, overlapping, and material variations.
"Different Perspectives" uses an acrylic box as its medium. The front of the box features 15 concave and convex lenses of different sizes and powers, as well as mirrors on both sides inside the box, to express the idea that "the same event can produce different perspectives from different angles."
